Nishi Tendai Sangha
Albany, New York

Nishi Sangha has been meeting in Albany, New York since 1997. Currently we meet at 727 Madison Ave., every Tuesday evening from 6-8:00pm. The co-leaders of the sangha are Mushin Sam Press and Shoshin Sandy Jacon.

The usual Tuesday evening format consists of a short lecture or discussion led by one of the priests, followed by a meditation period. Meditation instruction is always available. After meditation, there is an opportunity for socializing.

We are an engaged Buddhist Sangha and are involved in community projects - such as volunteering at the regional food bank or local nursing homes. We have also sponsored a half-day retreat on peace and justice, and we actively participate in local ‘Change Your Mind Day’ activities.

It is not necessary to be a Buddhist to participate in our sangha events.

Nishi Sangha presents a wonderful opportunity for beginners on the path, or for those simply interested in learning the Buddhism basics - and a bit more about the Tendai School.
